Cargo & Logistics operators contract with shippers (manufacturers, distributors, retailers, other logistics companies) for scheduled or on-demand truck-load and part-load movements, usually on a per-trip or lane-rate basis, sometimes on standing monthly contracts with volume commitments. They own or lease the fleet (trucks, trailers, prime movers) and employ or contract drivers.

What Muhasib handles
The situations that break generic software are designed in from day one.
Failed delivery attempt (consignee site closed/refused) — Job cannot reach Delivered; needs a "Delivery Attempt Failed" sub-status with reschedule, and demurrage/waiting-time charge capture.
Damaged or lost cargo claim — POD exception captured at delivery; a formal claim record (linked to the Job) tracks investigation, liability determination, and settlement/credit note, routed through approvals.
Empty-leg / backhaul optimization — a truck delivering one load ideally picks up a return load rather than running empty; this is a dispatch-planning concern (Advanced feature) not a data-model gap.
Overweight/oversize or hazardous cargo — needs a flag on the Job for special permits/routing; document capture via documents.
Rate card vs spot-rate mismatch — contract shipper occasionally books at a rate that does not match the standing rate card; requires an explicit rate-override with approvals sign-off (audit-logged).
Subcontracted capacity (own fleet fully booked, load subcontracted to a third-party carrier) — the Job is fulfilled by a non-fleet vehicle; needs the ability to assign a "subcontractor" instead of an internal Driver/Truc…
